Fundamentals

Every category on this wiki, from Tracking to Switching, is built on the same mechanics and the same practice habits.

Learn those first. You go into a scenario knowing which part of your arm does the work and why your score plateaus. You also know what a trainer can and cannot fix, instead of finding out by trial and error after weeks of unfocused reps.

The four pages below are the prerequisite reading behind everything else in Categories and Training.

  • How Aim Works: the physical mechanics behind mouse aim, from arm, wrist, and finger movement to the speed-accuracy trade-off, smoothness, and reacting versus predicting.
  • Tension Management: how hard your hand and arm work on the mouse. It covers how to feel too much or too little, and drills to control it.
  • Practice Principles: the practice habits, from deliberate practice to rest, that decide whether your training time improves your aim.
  • Transfer to Games: what aim-trainer practice does and does not carry over into a real match, and how to combine trainer practice with in-game practice.
